Compliance
For employers, compliance simply refers to preventing violations of applicable law, regulations and other governmental guidance. More specifically, in the areas of employment, payroll and benefits law, compliance means adhering to a mountainous stack of rules (often confusing, sometimes conflicting) while providing value to employees, participants and other interested parties. Compliance does not mean perfection; at its core it means conforming to stated requirements, motivated by an appreciation for the costs of noncompliance.
